A local publisher is organising a workshop to equip aspiring Christian writers. It will also guide them in book writing.
The first writers' workshop organised by Armour Publishing is themed Christian Writing: Hearing the Call and Honing Your Craft.
Starting tomorrow, the three-day event will equip participants with the basics of Christian writing and teach them to embark on writing that impacts lives.
Practical tips on writing magazine, personal experience and devotional articles will be given. In addition, the workshop will provide guidelines for writing a book and working with an editor.
President of Media Associates International John Maust will be the speaker. MAI is a publishing training agency based near Chicago, Illinois. Maust directs MAI’s training programmes which are geared toward strengthening local Christian publishing and authorship worldwide.
He oversees an international network of trainers who provide mentoring for publishers, editors, writers, designers and other publishing staff. Maust has led writer workshops in countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, East and Central Europe and the Middle East.
He has more than 20 years of experience as an editor and journalist behind him. Maust served ten years as editor of Latin America Evangelist magazine, four years in Peru as a missionary evangelist, and was assistant news editor of Christianity Today magazine and editor of a community newspaper in India.
