Balance Is The Key Of Life (Part 4)

[Continued From: Page 1]
- Regularly sit under and listen to the teaching of sound doctrine (Heb. 10:25, Titus 1:9), and be extra careful of any "message" that contradicts mainstream, established Christian theology.
- Study the Word of God with other mature Christians to show yourself approved of God (2 Tim. 2:15).
- Compare every teaching of man to the whole truth of God's Word. Do not proof text or use one isolated text to formulate a doctrine of truth (Isa. 28:13).
- Receive correction and reproof from God's Word. Sit under a mature pastor (shepherd) and fellowship with a community of Christians whose lives bear good fruit (2 Tun. 10-17, Gal. 5:22-26).
- Be accountable in your lifestyle to other godly and holy Christians, keeping your walk pure before the Lord (Jas. 4:10, Titus 2:11-15).
As I close, I want to unequivocally say again that I have no intention whatsoever to discredit the ministry of any pastor or church. My wife and I know that pastors work very hard for the benefit of their flocks. My desire in this article is not to rebuke the many mighty men of God in the kingdom, but to bring a much needed balance and correction to the body of Christ at large. Every local church has the responsibility to be a bastion of truth, holding on to the sound doctrine of the Scriptures. As such, let's not forget the words of Paul to Timothy:
... I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth." (1 Tim. 3:15)
