Singapore - Andrew and Grace Home, a shelter for troubled teens and juvenile delinquents is currently raising of around $100,000 for a shift of a home to a new premise by January 2008.
To raise funds for the new home Pastor Choo, the founder of the Home, is planning a series of fund raising projects which includes 100km race in Singapore on 25 November launching of a book next month which shares true stories of experiences and successful stories of teenaged girls who once stayed in the home.
The home currently holds 58 girls aged 12-18, and contributes greatly to the well being of them by holding counseling sessions for them and/or their families. In recent news from “The News Paper” it highlights one of the teenager who was a problem child and was led by the home to continue well with life.
The Andrew & Grace Home (AG Home) located at 65 Jalan Dedap was established in November 1998 to help troubled youths and to provide temporary refuge particularly for teenage girls who have problems with their families.
The AG Home is a joint project of the Covenant Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Community Services (PCS). The latter (PCS) is a charitable voluntary welfare organisation established in 1974 to promote and further the welfare of children, youth, the sick and the frail elderly and the disabled regardless of the race language or religion. It is registered under the Charities Act, 1982 and a full member of the National Council of Social Service since 1985.
The objectives of the Home are as follows: · provide a temporary refuge for teenage girls who need an alternative place to stay while working through their problems with parents. · offer crisis shelter to battered wives requiring temporary shelter while seeking assistance for their problems. · provide counselling and guidance to needy youths who have conflicts with their families and help them work towards reconciliation. · reach out and befriend those youths-at-risk to help steer from adverse influence and delinquent activities.
