Bible Society Appoints Mgmt Consultant as Next Gen-Sec

The Bible Society of Singapore has recently appointed certified management consultant and itinerant preacher Ezekiel Tan as its incoming General Secretary.

Mr. Tan commenced duty on December 1, 2011 as General Secretary-Designate of the Bible Society.

He previously worked with the Bible Society. During that time, he spearheaded the formation of its Scripture Engagement Department.

As General Secretary-Designate, he is responsible for the organisation's day-to-day operations.

He is expected to assume the role of General Secretary of the Bible Society of Singapore in May 2012.

Mr. Tan joined the Bible Society in 1999. He served as Senior Manager (Scripture Engagement & Communications).

During his tenure, he was tasked to spearhead the formation of the Scripture Engagement Department.

In the process, several new ministries were formed to promote Bible literacy. This includes ministries to children and youth, to the Indians and the Chinese, a sports ministry and a ministry to Brunei.

Mr. Tan was the Director of Training (Mandarin Ministry) at Haggai Institute. He also rendered management consultancy and business excellence advice to multinational companies.

Beyond his life as a professional, Mr. Tan has been actively involved in Christian organisations for years.

He is the Associate General Secretary of the Evangelical Fellowship of Singapore (EFOS), an adjunct lecturer at Haggai Institute, and a regional trainer at World Teach.

In addition, he sits on the committees of several Christian organisations.

For over a decade, he has been involved in pastoral ministry. He also serves as an itinerant preacher in the region.

Mr. Tan holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Business Administration, and a Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Theological College. He is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the University of Canberra.

Mr. Tan has been accredited by the PMC Certification Board as a certified Practicing Management Consultant.

The Bible Society endorsed the leadership capability of its General Secretary-Designate.

"Under his new leadership, the Bible Society anticipates a vibrant and dynamic journey towards new heights in (the) furthering of God's Word," read an article in Word@Work, the official newsletter of the Bible Society of Singapore.
