The Singapore Centre for Global Missions (SCGM) has appointed a new National Director.
Social entrepreneur Lawrence J. C. Ko took over duties from Ms. Juliette Arulrajah on January 3, 2012. Ms. Arulrajah, who led SCGM for three years, has moved on to prepare for another ministry.
In a letter posted on the organisation's website, SCGM Chairman Dr. Chris Cheah introduced the new National Director.
"Lawrence is passionate and experienced in the work of catalysing missions having served as the Programme Chairman of Go Forth National Missions Conference 2008," he said.
Mr. Ko, an SGCM executive committee member from 2006 to 2008 and 2010 to 2011, has served in fulltime ministry for over two decades. He has been a pastor and social entrepreneur with Asian Journeys.
Ko has also been in the management in several Christian organisations. This includes YMCA of Singapore, ORTV and TWR-Asia.
He also serves on the executive committees of Bible Society of Singapore, and Asia Lausanne Committee of World Evangelisation (ALCOE).
Mr. Ko is current chair of the Mission Commission of the Asia Evangelical Alliance (AEA) and of the Singapore Committee of the Lausanne Movement.
He is a member of the Chinese congregation of the Anglican All Saints Church.
Dr. Cheah concluded his letter with an appeal for prayer.
"Please pray for Lawrence and the team at SCGM as we serve and partner with you and the Christian community in Singapore and beyond," said Dr. Cheah.
