The denomination that held three job fairs throughout the year is continuing its service to the community online.

Methodist Employment Opportunities (MEO) brings together Methodist Church-related employers and organisations, and those seeking job opportunities, on a web portal on the website of The Methodist Church in Singapore.

The service is an extension of the HOPE Fair, which was held to help people be better equipped during the recent economic crisis and current recovery.

MEO allows prospective employers to post a 30-day online job advertisement on the portal and enjoy instant online access to resumes simply by registering with JobStreet.com. The service is a tie-up between MCS and JobStreet.com.

Job seekers can view job opportunities by registering as a member of JobStreet.com. They will also be required to upload their resume, which will be accessed by potential employers and MCS staff supporting the site to facilitate employment and job-matching.

As of the time of writing, 58 jobs have been posted including occupations in engineering, IT, transportation, sales and marketing, chaplaincy, healthcare, administration, retail, design, education. All job postings were uploaded between October 16 and 20.

Organised by the Trinity Annual Conference, the English-speaking division of churches in the MCS, the HOPE fair was a series of three events, the last of which was held some weeks ago.

Conducted by different teams of Methodist congregations at various locations, the fair saw an increasing participation. The final event attracted some 2,000 participants and provided 1,500 job openings.

In his opening speech delivered at the October 17 fair, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong praised the MCS for joining the government in its effort to help victims of the recent economic recession find employment.
